Welcome, welcome dear reader, on this beautiful new day. A day that brings new possibilities, new chances, and maybe even a new view on your life.
Today we want to talk about gratitude.
How can you be thankful (again)?
How grateful are you for what you have in your life? Are you just looking at that what’s missing? To what has been ‘taken’ from you? Or can you still see through all the clouding and see how beautiful life is?
To help you with that, we’re going to take a closer look today. Gratitude, how do you express it, how do you feel it, and what do you have to do to feel it again when you’ve lost it?
It’s so easy to lose yourself in the delusion of the day, to sink into negativity, to be absorbed by news items, newspapers, television, or to drown yourself in endless surfing on your phone or computer, causing your life to slide into a negative slope.
Back to basics: breathing
Take a deep breath. Just take a really deep breath… and exhale slowly. That’s good. And do that a couple more times. And let go of your thoughts.
Don’t think about what you still have to do, about what’s going on in the world, only think of that one breath that you carefully take into your lungs.
Feel how you are in your body, how the oxygen spreads through your body through your bloodstream, how you return more and more to your base. This is what your life is: your soul in your physical body. That is all that matters.
Everything else, apparently outside of you, is unimportant. No matter how much value you think it has, how important you may think it is to be aware of world events, how much you think you have to put everything outside of yourself, at the end of the day your whole life revolves around that one breath in this moment! Every moment again.
When you do this more consciously, breathing with attention, you will notice that you will feel more gratitude. Gratitude that you are still breathing, you are alive! You are still here, in this beautiful illusion that we call life on Earth.
Change your world with gratitude
And now take a look around you. No, not outside, not to your phone or computer, but look around you, really, really close. Your hands, the chair or sofa you’re sitting on, and realize what you do have, instead of focusing on everything you don’t have.
Think of the people that support you, people you love, or your animals, it could be anything. Consciously look for the things you are grateful for, that you know your life would be less fun and less valuable if you didn’t have them around. And keep breathing, consciously breathing.
From a genuine sense of gratitude you can change your whole world. We often say that what you focus on grows. Focus your attention on the things you are grateful for, including the little things.
If feel that you haven’t got enough money, and you find a five cent coin on the street, do you think ‘phew, it’s only five cents’? Or are you grateful for that five cents? Because if you can find five cents, what else is within reach, for example in the financial field? Be grateful for that five cents too! There’s a saying in Dutch that says ‘wie het kleine niet eert, is het grote niet weerd’, which means ‘who does not honor small things, is not worthy of the big things’, which is true.
Appreciate the littlest of things…
Be grateful for the small things, and the large things will manifest itself too. When you reject the small, as unimportant, useless, uninteresting, unworthy, you also reject the big! Even though you may not think you do, in reality you are closing all doors to the Universe to help you reach the great things you want so badly.
Gratitude is, next to Love, one of the great keys to opening the door to your heaven on earth. Practice that, be aware of how often or how little you feel gratitude, and change your reality with it.
We are The Wisdom, and with that we are complete for now.
